This project file is based on one fairly complex block, but with some pieces hiding because they are replaced with the background fabric.

Perhaps there are a lot of unknown star signs hiding in these designs.

Same collection of blocks as yesterday, but set on point.

I like both of these designs … the first as a knee rug, the second for a bed.

Like pretty much all of my pieced block designs, I designed a block, then added pieced and took pieces away to make a collection of blocks. The original part of Star for Selina is used in the centre of both these designs, all the rest have some parts removed.

The first design is my pick of today’s pair of designs.

Nice, neat and tidy, with the sky getting darker the further from the centre.

The second one is much more interesting, and my favourite for today.

I find it a bit weird that most star blocks have a coloured star on a light background. There are very few stars seen during the daylight hours so I try to use dark backgrounds for star blocks.

I think I would need a lot more coffee to help me pick a favourite from this pair of designs.

Starry, starry night!

Not so many stars in the second design, but it is my favourite for today … I like the empty space waiting for some quilting lines to be added.

I don’t usually like busy, starry designs, especially if they have too much blue, but I do like the one above.
I can remember wandering around a quilt exhibition and stopping in front of a blue quilt. I loved every thing about it, even the blue. All the shapes and all the fabrics were in exactly the right place to make the overall design perfect, and it was a perfect example of contrast being more important than colour to make the design attractive.

Love the second design!

I don’t usually like star blocks, but I like this collection …

… and the designs I have found by mixing them up.

The same block as yesterday, but on point, with sashing … so I could add sashing squares.

Love both of these!

The Star for Selina block is in full colour in the centre of the design above, and all the other blocks are the same block designs with some pieces left out. Look closely and you can see where the seam lines should be … I would use those lines as quilting lines.

I like stars on a dark background … after all, we cannot see stars during the day when the sun is shining.

Just one block, recoloured to fill spaces with much more interest than just making the same version over and over.

The centre block in the second design is the block as it appears in full colours.
Also has the quilting design ready to stitch … just follow the seam lines which are not there!
